# KIHBS Job-Quality Measures : Final Supported Scope

Source: member questionnaire printed pp14–15/PDF15–16, actual Stata labels, and the validated native employment route. All results refer to 2015/16 and age 15–64. Household weights are applied to member records. Results are descriptive weighted point estimates; no interval is calculated for these measures.

Wanting more paid/profit hours uses D22=1 among D22=1/2, restricted to employed people with D08>0. There are 33,719 valid answers and 263 excluded:59.7% wanted more hours in their main job. This is not official time-related underemployment and does not establish availability for additional work.

Actual main-job hours use D20 in 0–168. There are 33,762 valid answers and 220 excluded from 33,982 eligible employed respondents. The bands0–<28,28–<40,40–48 and>48–168 sum to 100%. Zero hours are retained; values above 168 and missing answers are excluded, not winsorised. These are not all-job hours or an official underemployment classification.

Benefits and contract measures additionally require paid-employee activity codes 1/2 and non-casual work-pattern codes 1/2/3/6. The questionnaire routes casual workers (D23=4) from D26 to D31, bypassing benefits and contracts. Among11,527 eligible non-casual paid employees, each question uses its own valid denominator:

- NSSF: 11,370 valid,157 excluded;30.8% yes.
- NHIF: 11,368 valid,159 excluded;34.0% yes.
- Paid leave:11,361 valid,166 excluded;22.1% yes.
- Employer medical benefits:11,363 valid,164 excluded;17.1% yes.
- Written contract:11,372 valid,155 excluded;37.0% written.

D29 valid codes are 1/2, with8 and missing excluded. D30 valid codes are 1–4; written is1. These are conditional reported coverage rates, not estimates for all employees or all employed people. Historical benefit names are preserved. Code and detailed numerator/denominator values are in `scripts/job_quality.py` and `data/processed/kihbs_job_quality.csv`.

Earnings remain outside the supported headline scope. D26 permits expected pay and in-kind valuation, and casual workers have different routing. Units, zero values and extreme observations require further clarification. No fabricated living-wage threshold, forced monthly self-employment conversion or cross-year real-earnings series is supplied.
